What is a Gestational Carrier?
A Gestational Carrier (GC), or surrogate, is an incredible woman who carries a pregnancy for an individual or couple (the Intended Parents or IPs) who cannot carry a child themselves.
This woman may be someone who enjoys pregnancy or has had easy pregnancies. Maybe she knows someone who has struggled with infertility or has a deep passion for helping others.
Gestational surrogates are compensated for the time and gift of providing a safe and nurturing place for another parent’s baby to grow!
Crucially, a GC has no genetic link to the baby she carries. The embryo is created using the IPs’ egg and sperm (or donated egg/sperm) and is transferred to the GC’s uterus. A Gestational Surrogate’s role is purely gestational—a deeply valued gift of time, dedication, and body.

Your Journey To Become A Surrogate with Onne Life
Becoming a Surrogate is a magical and emotionally fulfilling journey, but it also takes a generous time commitment. Below is a step-by-step guide and estimated timeline of our surrogacy process so you can see what and how long it will take to give the Intended Parents your amazing gift: their baby!
Step 1: Initial Contact and Application (1-2 weeks)
You complete our detailed application, providing us with your full medical history, delivery records, and personal preferences regarding your ideal surrogacy journey (e.g., travel, communication). This helps us determine eligibility and set the stage for matching.
Step 2: Comprehensive Vetting and Screening (1-2 weeks)
We manage all required checks on your behalf. This includes background checks, a review of your previous pregnancy records, and a mandatory psychological evaluation. This step ensures you are fully prepared for the commitment ahead.
Step 3: Matching and Relationship Building (1 week-2 months)
You’ll review detailed profiles of prospective Intended Parents (IPs). Once you find a family you feel connected to, we arrange a facilitated meeting. When you both agree, a formal, mutually confirmed match is made, and you move forward as a team.
Step 4: Medical Clearance and Legal Contract (2-3 months)
You will work with your independent legal counsel to review, negotiate, and sign the Surrogacy Contract with the IPs. You will then visit the IPs’ fertility clinic for a full medical screening to confirm readiness for transfer. All legal and medical documentation must be finalized here.
Step 5: Monitoring and Embryo Transfer (3-4 weeks)
This phase begins with your cycle medications and monitoring appointments at a local clinic. When your body is ready, you will travel to the IPs’ clinic for the official embryo transfer procedure.
Step 6: Pregnancy, Prenatal Care, and Birth (9 months+)
Following a confirmed pregnancy, you will transition to your trusted local OB/GYN for all routine prenatal care. We support you and the IPs as you maintain communication, plan the delivery logistics, and experience the birth of the baby.
Step 7: Post-Birth Follow-up and Closure (6 weeks)
Your focus is on your physical and emotional recovery. This includes attending your postpartum medical check-up and ensuring all final financial reimbursements are processed. We provide closure support and honor the agreed-upon post-journey relationship boundaries.
